Join us for the opening reception of Lisa Ellison’s newest exhibition, “Peak Seasons” at 610 Arts Collective.

“Peak Seasons” is a majestic journey through the Colorado High Country’s most expressive moments. Whether it be a dramatic view of Pyramid Peak cloaked in golden aspens on a crisp autumn day, or a tender scene of Sneffels on a spring green morning, in these recent paintings I aim to capture the high peaks’ display of enduring strength and solidity through the dynamic changing light and colors of the seasons.
Lisa Ellison is a painter of earth and sky, living the good life in the North Fork Valley of Western Colorado. She prefers to paint from nature – outdoors, “en plein air”, capturing the light and colors of the mountains, aspen trees, lakes, rivers, and unpredictable skies of the scenes before her, then translating these plein air studies to larger formats once back in the studio. Though she has traveled extensively, including some months spent in Italy studying fresco with a restoration master in Florence, and time spent in the village of Auvers-sur-Oise in France (where van Gogh painted, and is buried), she still feels that given a lifetime to paint in this region of Colorado, she could never even come close to capturing all the beauty that lives here. In painting the Western Colorado landscapes she loves, she hopes to evoke a reverence and appreciation for nature, and the importance of seeing and caring for this landscape we call home.

“Peak Seasons” will be on display through June 29, Tuesday-Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm and during Courtyard events.
