Documentary filmmaker Jordan Campbell will share his experiences across four humanitarian missions to the war-torn country. The evening is a fundraising event for the documentary film: UKRAINE UNDER FIRE, A Film About War & Resilience.
Jordan Campbell, a journalist, documentary filmmaker and humanitarian activist, has traveled to Ukraine four times since the start of Russia’s all-out invasion, which began on February 24, 2022. Since the start of the crisis, Jordan has painstakingly documented the bold work of humanitarian aid organizations, embedding in a military hospital and traveling in ambulances with combat medics. From the liberated towns of Bucha, Borodianka and Irpin to the besieged and dangerous Bakhmut region, Jordan has witnessed widespread destruction and experienced undeniable evidence of war-crimes in some of the most kinetic environments of the Donbas region.
Across his four missions, and over 18 months of covering the Ukraine crisis, Jordan has gained a unique and frontline perspective into the conflict which he’s now sharing through a documentary film aptly titled, UKRAINE UNDER FIRE. The impact film, still in production and targeted for release in 2024, follows Olga Butko, a national news anchor for Ukraine’s RADA television and Peter Fouché, a brave combat medic from the UK who evacuates wounded soldiers right off the frontlines. Both of these unlikely and inspiring film characters are committed to Ukraine’s victory over Russia’s unprovoked invasion, which has become the largest conflict in Europe since WWII.
The evening presentation, which will include images and videos from the film production, Jordan will share his personal journey covering Ukrainian resistance and his insights into the international conflict which has led to nearly 500,000 troops either killed or wounded. Drawing from over a dozen voices—including seated interviews with Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Justice and military commanders—Jordan will address pressing questions about war crimes, genocidal acts and misinformation campaigns. Most notably, Jordan will share what Ukrainians are experiencing daily, the spiritual crisis of war, spotlighting courage and resilience in the face of Russian aggression.
This evening is a fundraising event for the impact documentary film, UKRAINE UNDER FIRE | A Film About War & Resilience and is hosted by The Sherbino in partnership with Ridgway Spirit Fest. Ticket proceeds go toward the film’s production.
