Join us on First Friday from 4-8 pm for an opening reception and artist meet & greet with Meredith Nemirov for her exhibition SOLSTICE/SOLSTICE.
About the exhibition: The focus of my work is the tree in the landscape inspired and informed by an eastern philosophy of art that reflects a sensitivity to the change of seasons in nature. SOLSTICE/SOLSTICE is a collection of 27 oil paintings that were started on the first day of the solstice, and dramatically convey the visual contrast between the summer and winter seasons. Each work captures the weather, temperature, precipitation, and the color, texture and light that are unique to each season.
In light of environmental concerns having to do with climate change I believe that people want to have a more intimate and personal connection to nature and one way they are seeking that is through the visual arts, literature, film and other forms of artistic expression. Upon seeing this collection of paintings, as has happened with my previous exhibitions depicting the aspen tree, the viewer will come away with a more acute awareness of their own surroundings and a renewed fascination and careful consideration for the natural world
