Ridgway 1K ~ Rally Through The Alley: Colorado’s Most Entertaining Fun Run

🗓 Event Date: October 5, 2025
In-person Registration Opens: 12:15 PM
🏁 Race Starts: 12:45 PM
📣 Last Call for Runners: 1:15 PM (all runners must be checked-in by 1:15 pm).
📍 Downtown Ridgway, Colorado

Join the most hilarious costumed fun run in Colorado!
The Ridgway 1K Rally Through The Alley is a family-friendly, costume-themed, 1K race in downtown Ridgway. But don’t be fooled—this 6-block, downhill “race” is all about fun, food, and funky vibes, not speed.

🎉 Why It’s a Must-Do Event:

  • Open to all ages and fitness levels
  • Costumes are encouraged (and rewarded!)
  • 8 unique aid stations featuring outrageous snacks like bacon, donuts, and hot dogs
  • The race ends with live music in Hartwell Park
  • Add-on available: Access to the San Juan Barrel Fest, a regional craft beer, wine, and cider tasting festival

💡 Pro Tip: In the Ridgway 1K, if you’re first… you’re last! This is about taking your time and soaking in the fun.

Perfect for:

  • Visitors looking for a fun fall festival in Colorado
  • Families seeking a kid-friendly running event
  • Adults who love craft beer and quirky races
  • Runners who don’t run, but love a good party in costume

This is a fundraiser supporting arts and culture through two local nonprofit organizations: Weehawken Creative Arts and The Sherbino Theater.

TODAY’S THE DAY: DETAILS ON THE DAY:

We’re so excited to see you today in Ridgway for the 2025 Ridgway 1K Rally Through the Alley and/or San Juan Barrel Fest!

🚗 Parking & Arrival for “Racers”:  We recommend parking in town near Hartwell Park and walking up to the start line.
If you prefer to park closer, the Ridgway School parking lot is a good option. So are any public spaces on nearby streets (please don’t park in alleys!). Please do not park at the Old Schoolhouse itself — we’ll have that area blocked off for registration and runners.

🏃‍♀️ Ridgway 1K Participants

  • Check-in Location: The Old Schoolhouse Building (1075 Sherman St., also known as the Riggs Building / Weehawken Ridgway classroom).
  • Check-in Time: 12:15 pm until 1:20. Please arrive and check in no later than 1:20 p.m. Race registration closes at that time.
  • What to Bring: If you’re also participating in Barrel Fest, bring your photo ID to receive your festival wristband when you check in for the “run”.
  • Waivers & Race Numbers: All participants must sign a waiver and pick up their bib number at check-in.
  • Kids: Children must be registered on-site and have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
    – Kids under 13 run free with an adult.
    – Kids 13+ are $10 on-site today if paying in cash.  If paying with card, there’s an additional processing fee.
  • Race Start: Groups will depart in waves every ~7 minutes to keep the course comfortable and fun. Drew Berger will be our MC and will release groups when ready — you can self-identify with Drew when your whole group is ready to “go”!
  • Restrooms: Available at the Old Schoolhouse before you begin and at The Annex on Cora on the route.
  • Race Swag: All swag pick-up is at the finish line (we have a fun assortment waiting for you there).

🍻 San Juan Barrel Fest Participants

  • Location: Hartwell Park in downtown Ridgway.
  • Check-in Time: Opens at 1:45 p.m. (we may be ready a bit earlier).
  • What to Bring: Photo ID (required for wristband and tasting access).
  • How to Check In: Use your Ticket Tailor confirmation or simply check in by name.

If you’re doing both the 1K and Barrel Fest, you’ll receive your Barrel Fest wristband when you check in for the race at the Old Schoolhouse.

🎉 At the Finish Line

After you cross the finish line at Hartwell Park:

  • Pick up your race swag and celebrate!
  • Enjoy the kids’ area with a face painter and inflatable fun zone.
  • Awards for best costumes and most fun start around 2 p.m.
  • Then stick around for live music by BoneWagon, kicking off right after the awards!

We can’t wait to see your creativity, costumes, and energy out on the course and in the park.
It’s going to be a day full of laughs, friends, and fun in true Ridgway style.

See you soon and thanks for being part of the fun!
