The Storm in the Barn

In 1937 Kansas, 11-year-old Jack Clark faces many challenges: local bullies, his father’s desperate attempts to keep his family intact, an older sister getting sicker by the day, and a little sister with an eye for trouble. But he’s also facing the epic disaster of the Dust Bowl—which means families disappearing overnight, tempers flaring in his small town, and the steady spread of the mysterious illness “Dust Dementia.” So can Jack even trust his own eyes when he makes a terrifying discovery in the abandoned barn next door? Is the sinister shadow with a face like rain—a creature with a plan to deprive humans of water forever—real?
AUDITIONS: Sunday, January 8 & Monday, January 9

REHEARSALS: TBD

PERFORMANCES: February 9-11 @ 7pm, February 12 @ 2pm

Cabaret- Teen Theatre Production in collaboration with Ouray School

Weehawken & Ridgway Chautauqua Society and Ouray High School partner to produce the annual Ouray High School musical. For the 2023 season, Ouray High presents Tony-Award winning production: Cabaret. In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920's draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee's bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin's natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally's boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Auditions for the show are open to both Ouray and Ridgway High School students, as well as local home school students!

A Note on Rehearsals with Colin Sullivan: All Sherbino Theatre rehearsals will be designed around individual actor's parts and personal schedules (i.e. We know you're busy...not everyone will be rehearsing every night and note for the entirety of every rehearsal!) Bob's Holiday Office Party is a short 3-4 week rehearsal process, with a break for the Thanksgiving holiday. Actors will be scheduled as-needed, but ALL actors must commit to full-rehearsals for our 3 days of tech and run throughs (Nov 27-29th), and the 3 performance evenings (Nov 30-December 2).
