John Billings & Weehawken Creative Arts with the Sherbino Present:  Michael McCullough's 6th  Annual Amateur Sculpting Contest 2018 for Adults & Youth

Now in its sixth year, Michael McCullough's Amateur Sculpting Contest attracts amateur sculptors from across the Western Slope of Colorado to sculpt three to five pounds of clay into a masterpiece in just two hours. A panel of professional artists determines the winners and award hefty cash prizes.

In honor of Michael McCullough, John Billings, together with Sculpture House and Weehawken Creative Arts and the Sherbino will present The 6th Annual Ridgway Amateur Sculpting Contest Saturday, June 2nd.

Artist Check-in will run from 12:30 until 1 pm at the Sherbino Theater at 604 Clinton St. The contest will run from 1 pm until 3 pm for adults at Sherbino Theater and 1 pm until 2:30 pm for youth at 610 Arts Collective (next door at 610 Clinton St.). The public is welcome to silently observe during the 2 hour creation period. Refreshments and treats will be served outside during the entire event and people will be encouraged to play with multiple clay materials at "play stations".  There will be a one-hour break with no public access for judging, followed by an open awards ceremony reception, starting at 4:00 pm.

On February 11 2012 the Sherbino incorporated as the Ridgway Chautauqua Society Inc. whose mission is to embody the Chautauqua tradition by producing programs celebrating lifelong learning, the arts, culture and community.
