Burlesque Class

During the 6 weeks we'll discuss burlesque-related topics like music selection, the art of costuming, and performing for an audience. Burlesque is a terrific form of expression for any woman. It builds confidence, comfort with your own body and it's great exercise too! After the 6 weeks we will have a show, you are not required to be in the show. Each class will be 6:00pm-8pm you will be supported in forming a final piece. During each class we will have time to work on individual pieces and doing group activities to help you find your burlesque character and build confidence. No experience necessary and any woman is welcome! Come have fun with us! For each class please bring your sense of adventure and comfortable clothes to move in!

Please note: Below schedule is subject to minor changes:

Monday August 21st Day 1: Intro day- learn what burlesque is, watch a short film on burlesque and start talking ideas. Go home and make a dream board of your piece you want to do.

Monday August 28th Day 2: Share dream boards. Burlesque music and moves. Try and decide your song for your piece

Monday September 4th Day 3: Burlesque moves and working together as a group. Come up with the intro of your piece

Monday September 11th Day 4: Costumes and props

Monday September 18th Day 5: Rehearsing and sharing.

Sunday September 24th Day 6: Pastie making- putting together your final piece and rehearsing. Everything must be finalized. Longer class time.

Sunday October 1st Day 7: Rehearse and Present pieces to class- Longer class time.

A history of community

Established in 1915, the Sherbino has been the heart of Ridgway Colorado, providing a venue for community events ranging from music to poetry. Now in a period of re-birth, the Sherbino continues to standout as the hub of events and community activities in Ridgway and throughout Ouray County. On February 11 2012 the Sherbino incorporated as the Ridgway Chautauqua Society Inc. whose mission is to restore the venue and to offer events and community focused program.
